Chief Legal and Strategic Affairs Officer

Christine Baker currently serves as the Chief Legal and Administrative Affairs Officer at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA).

Christine oversees several critical areas of focus, including Legal and Compliance, Accounting & Financial Reporting, Audit/Risk Management, Board Governance, Business Operations, Human Resources and Procurement.  She also serves as the NJEDA’s Accountability Officer.  She has overall responsibility for process improvement and ensuring that the NJEDA meets and exceeds our aspirations and obligations for transparency and accountability. 

Prior to joining the NJEDA, she served as the Chief Compliance Officer and Ethics Liaison Officer at New Jersey Transit. Christine has also served in a variety of senior roles within the Office of the Attorney General, including Deputy Chief of Staff, Counsel and then Chief Counsel to the Attorney General. Prior to joining NJ State government, Christine gained significant experience in the private sector both as Executive Counsel at an international real estate services company and as a partner at a large law firm.

Christine has a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers School of Law and a Master’s degree from Montclair State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Certificate in Urban Planning from Rutgers University.
