EDA PROVIDES OVER $86 MILLION TO NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN 2010 AND OVER $23 MILLION TO DATE IN 2011
In 2010, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) provided over $ 86 million to 23 not-for-profit organizations. This assistance leveraged over $100 million in capital investment and supported the creation of an estimated 178 new jobs, while supporting just over 1,700 existing jobs. Through the first seven months of 2011, EDA has provided just over $23 million to 10 not-for-profit organizations, supporting the creation of an estimated 684 new jobs. Among the organizations assisted:
Respond Inc. – a Camden-based voluntary, not for profit (501) (c) (3) agency created by community residents to enhance and promote the economic independence and general welfare of individuals and families residing in Camden City and county. This mission is carried forth in the provision of comprehensive services in child care, a senior adult center, programs for homeless adults, rental housing and home ownership, youth services, employment, economic development, job training and associated programs that help people help themselves.
Family Intervention Services, Inc. – a Denville-based, private, non-profit organization providing crisis intervention, therapeutic counseling, case management, education and support to New Jersey individuals. Each year FIS’ professional and support staff extend a helping hand to over 3600 children and families, as well as providing training and technical assistance to human services professionals and organizations throughout New Jersey.
Riding High Farm – an Allentown-based nonprofit is dedicated to providing special-needs individuals with recreational and therapeutic horseback-riding instruction. Over the past three decades, the farm’s programs have changed and expanded, but the organization’s original dedication to individuals with special needs continues to be the constant goal.
SEARCH Day Program – an Ocean Twp. (Monmouth) -based non-profit, state approved 12-month school specializing in creative programming for individuals with autism. SEARCH Day Program is one of the leading schools and adult providers in the State that serves individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
