Peter J. Butch III

Peter Butch is a member of Fox Rothschild's Intellectual Property Practice. He focuses his practice in all fields of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis in procuring domestic and international patents on developments involving complex organic and inorganic chemistry, including pharmaceutical and biotechnology developments. Mr. Butch has over 20 years experience with counseling universities and start-up companies on the strategic development of intellectual property portfolios.   

Mr. Butch is also a member of the Technology and Venture Finance Practice Group within Fox Rothschild's Corporate Department, as well as the Pharma & Biotech and Life Sciences Practice groups.  

Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Mr. Butch was a partner at Synnestvedt & Lechner LLP, an intellectual property boutique, in that firm's chemical practice group and opinions and licensing practice group. After law school, Mr. Butch clerked for the Honorable John W. Fritz, Presiding Judge of the New Jersey Court of Appeals. 

In addition to his J.D., Mr. Butch has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh.  Before entering the law field, he was a chemist in the development of thermoplastic adhesives for the National Starch and Chemical Corporation in Bridgewater, NJ. He invented the first commercialized refastenable disposable diaper adhesive and the first commercialized adhesive for labeling plastic milk containers.
