Better fortunes on the horizon could point to more hiring this year, some North Jersey business leaders said, buoyed by Friday’s Labor Department report that showed strong job growth in January.
Employers added 243,000 workers to their payrolls last month, the largest increase since April 2011. Sectors seeing the biggest gains included professional and business services, health care and manufacturing. In a separate report, the unemployment rate declined to 8.3 percent.
